About the Authors

Frank O'Connor, Ayn Rand, and Charles and Mary Ann Sures at the Sures' Wedding Mary Ann Sures (neé Rukavina) is an art historian, with a B.A. in his­to­ry from Wayne State Uni­ver­si­ty and an M.A. in art his­to­ry from Hunter Col­lege. She taught art his­to­ry at New York Uni­ver­si­ty (Wash­ing­ton Square Col­lege) and at Hunter Col­lege. She lec­tures on the applica­tion of Ob­jec­tiv­ist esthetics to the visual arts. Her friendship with Ayn Rand and Frank O’Connor began in 1954. The Sures were married in 1965.

Charles Sures practiced law for 44 years, prior to his retirement in 1992. He received LL.B and LL.M degrees from George Wash­ing­ton Uni­ver­si­ty. Dur­ing World War II, he served in the South Pacific as a land­ing craft officer in the Navy [Lt. (j.g.)]. He was a pianist, stamp collector, and aerobatic pilot. His friendship with the O’Connors began in the ear­ly 1960s. Mr. Sures died in December 2000.
